GRAIL! Vintage J. Press "Donegal Mist" 3/2 Sack Tweed in Bold Glen Plaid.
Chest: 21 3/4
Sleeve: 24 (+ 2 1/4)
This is absolutely beautiful! Donegal Mist is J. Press' signature tweed fabric, and it's wonderful. Mist is handwoven for Magee (the premier Irish tweed company) in Donegal, Ireland, from a blend of 5% cashmere, 35% kid mohair, and 60% donegal wool, leading to a tweed fabric that is both incredibly hard-wearing and has a wonderful hand and drape.
Best yet, Donegal Mist is produced in such small quantities that every piece of cloth is identified with the name of the person who wove it--here, J. J. Campbell.
The Mist that this jacket is cut from is a wonderfully bold autumnal Glen Plaid with a base of off-cream and slate grey, and overchecking in russet, sky blue, burnt orange, and corn yellow. Cut as a classic 3/2 sack this jacket is half-canvassed and fully lined. It has a single center vent and three button cuffs.
It was, of course, Made in the USA.
This could use a dry clean and a press to freshen it up; it also has a fishing fly attached to the buttonhole in the lapel as a boutonniere (the former owner is a fly-fisherman). I can either remove this, or else leave it attached! This is in Very Good condition, and is a bargain at $45, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA.
